Homa secures defending champion status for this tournament and third win with Team Burns & Wilcox
Farmington Hills, Mich. (September 20, 2022) – Burns & Wilcox, a globally recognized leader in wholesale insurance brokerage and underwriting, today is recognizing Max Homa – one of its brand ambassadors – on winning the Fortinet Championship this past weekend in Napa, California.
On the 18th hole and trailing by one shot to Danny Willett, Max chipped in from more than 30 feet to claim the trophy. For the second year in a row, Max becomes the first winner of the PGA Tour’s new season. This win marks Homa’s fifth career PGA Tour victory and the second time he earned the Fortinet Championship trophy. This also marks his third win since joining Team Burns & Wilcox in early 2021.
“Starting off the 2023 PGA Tour season with a win is incredibly special and motivating,” said Homa. “I am thankful to partner with Team Burns & Wilcox and for their ongoing support as we kick off another season together. This win is a promising start to the energy and focus required throughout the season, on and off the course.”
Homa’s win follows an outstanding 2021-2022 season in which he won two tournaments and finished fifth in the FedEx standings. Eyes will once again be on Homa when he represents the U.S. as part of the Presidents Cup team. In addition, Burns & Wilcox brand ambassador Webb Simpson will serve as an assistant captain.
“We are proud to have Max sporting the Burns & Wilcox brand. His commitment to winning reflects the championship spirit that mirrors our own,” said Danny Kaufman, President, Burns & Wilcox. “We have routinely heard from our clients and partners about their excitement in seeing Burns & Wilcox so prominently featured on the PGA and LPGA Tours.”
In his professional career, Homa has won the 2019 Wells Fargo Championship, the 2021 Genesis Invitational, the 2021 Fortinet Championship, the 2022 Wells Fargo Championship, and now the 2022 Fortinet Championship.
Burns & Wilcox currently sponsors three other professional golfers: 2016 PGA Champion Jimmy Walker, 2012 US Open Champion Webb Simpson, and LGPA’s Sophia Schubert. The sponsorship with Walker began in 2016, expanded to include Simpson in 2017, Homa in 2021, and Schubert in 2022. Walker and Homa wear the Burns & Wilcox logo on the right side of their golf shirts and Simpson showcases the logo on the left side of his golf shirt. The company logo is also featured on Simpson’s caddie’s hat and towel and Homa’s caddie’s towel. Schubert wears the Burns & Wilcox logo on the left side of her golf shirt.
“As a proud sponsor of four professional golfers, Burns & Wilcox continues to elevate its national and international brand recognition through a sport whose values make a positive impact on our business and those who love the game,” Kaufman added. “We extend our best to Max for much continued success this season, particularly this weekend at Quail Hollow while representing the U.S. in the Presidents Cup.”
Burns & Wilcox also has an official partnership with the Detroit Red Wings. The company’s logo is visible on center ice of Little Caesars Arena and Burns & Wilcox is the official sponsor of the Detroit Red Wings Teacher of the Month program.
