Burns & Wilcox-Sponsored Webb Simpson Wins Waste Management Phoenix Open, Crowned People’s Open Champion

Brand ambassadors Webb Simpson and Jimmy Walker presented $50,000 to golfers’ charities of choice in partnership with Burns & Wilcox on Thursday

Farmington Hills, Mich. (February 04, 2020)Burns & Wilcox, North America’s leading insurance wholesale broker and underwriting manager, congratulates Webb Simpson on winning the Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale on Sunday. Simpson claimed his sixth PGA Tour victory after closing the day with three consecutive birdies.

“I am proud of the long-term support from Burns & Wilcox and grateful to have celebrated this win with their team,” said Simpson. “The company’s commitment to integrity and determination are key attributes I carry with me on the course.”

“We congratulate Webb on his outstanding performance at the Phoenix Open and rise to 7th in the Official World Golf Rankings,” said Daniel J. Kaufman, Chief Operating Officer, Burns & Wilcox, and Executive Vice President of parent company, H.W. Kaufman Group. “Our clients, carrier partners and associates have enjoyed getting to know Webb over the past few years. We are all excited for this victory and the awareness it brings to our industry.”

This Thursday, Burns & Wilcox also partnered with its PGA golf brand ambassadors Simpson and Jimmy Walker to present a donation to two charities. The donations are a result of Champions & Charities, one of the company’s signature philanthropic initiatives launched in 2018.

“Participating in a year-long, philanthropic program with our brand ambassadors was a great way to extend our partnerships with Simpson and Walker. In an industry designed to take care of people when they need it most, we at Burns & Wilcox hold true to our belief that it is our duty to help those around us,” said Kaufman.

Selected as their charities of choice, Simpson helped Burns & Wilcox present a $25,000 check to Team Fox, the grassroots fundraising community of The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, and Walker assisted in the presentation of a $25,000 check to Global Lyme Alliance.

“We are energized by the support of Webb Simpson and Burns & Wilcox as friends and supporters in our mission to find a cure for Parkinson’s,” said Michele Golombuski, MJFF Senior Vice President of Development. “This generous donation will benefit the Foundation’s high-impact research programs in helping us move closer to our goal of accelerating a cure and improved therapies for the millions of patients and families affected by this disease around the world.”

“Global Lyme Alliance appreciates all the time and effort Burns & Wilcox and Jimmy Walker have contributed to our organization through Champions & Charities,” said Scott Santarella, CEO of Global Lyme Alliance. “With an estimated 427,000 new cases of Lyme disease in the U.S. each year, and an estimated two million people in the U.S. suffering from post-treatment Lyme disease, the awareness that Jimmy and his wife Erin bring to the disease is crucially important.”

The company’s sponsorship with Walker began in 2016 and expanded to include Simpson in 2017. Walker wears the Burns & Wilcox logo on the right side of his golf shirt and Simpson showcases the logo on the left side of his golf shirt. The company logo is also featured on their respective caddies. The brand ambassadors share the company’s core values of integrity, hard work, competitiveness and professionalism, aligning with the Burns & Wilcox company culture.
